Job description

As a Gallery Assistant Intern at BcmA, you will play a key role in supporting our founder by overseeing the recruitment process for new interns, assisting our Art Historian/Cultural Manager, and working alongside our space directors to prepare and gather information for events and exhibitions. This is an on-site, unpaid internship based in Berlin, and we’re seeking committed, responsible individuals who are genuinely passionate about contemporary art.

Primary Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and advertising various internship roles
  • Screening and evaluating potential candidates
  • Coordinating interviews and assessments/candidate tasks
  • Conducting reference and background checks
  • Managing candidate relations (engage with candidates to foster positive interactions and long-term connections on Erasmus platforms)
  • Tracking and reporting on candidates
  • Onboarding new interns
     

In addition, you’ll assist with:

  • Organizing and promoting BcmA activities
  • Gallery operations and maintenance
  • Managing and installing artworks
  • Collecting information for event promotions and space activities
  • Keeping in contact with artists involved in exhibitions and events
  • Supporting marketing efforts for the gallery
  • Handling administrative tasks
  • Relationship management with team members, artists, and the public
     

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Background in Psychology, Art History, Art Management, and Business Administration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Meets, Calendar, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English (minimum B2 level); German is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Passion for contemporary art and art in general
  • Positive attitude and a desire to learn
  • Soft skills: Team-oriented, collaborative, experienced in international environments, adaptable, and able to effectively balance multiple tasks
