This platform brings together two long-standing initiatives led and created by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) - ErasmusIntern and Erasmus Careers - to better support the Erasmus Generation in the transition between learning, mobility, and professional development.

The platform connects students, recent graduates, employers, and higher education institutions through digital tools designed to make international opportunities more accessible, visible, and meaningful. It supports users in exploring traineeship and career opportunities, presenting their experiences and competences, and engaging with organisations that value international, multicultural, and mobility-driven profiles.

At its core, the platform aims to help bridge the gap between academic life and the labour market, while promoting the added value of international mobility, volunteering, and other formative experiences.

What the platform is about

The platform is a digital space where opportunity and talent meet.

For students and recent graduates, it offers a way to discover international traineeship and career opportunities, build a profile, reflect on skills and experiences, and connect with organisations looking for internationally minded young people.

For employers and organisations, it offers a space to publish opportunities, reach a motivated and diverse talent pool, and engage with young people whose profiles are enriched by mobility, intercultural learning, and practical experience.

For higher education institutions and other stakeholders, it contributes to a more connected ecosystem around employability, traineeships, and skills recognition, while supporting a more transparent and user-friendly pathway from education to work.

What users can do on the platform

The platform offers a set of functionalities tailored to different users and stages of the mobility-to-employability journey. These include:

For students and recent graduates

  • Create a personal profile highlighting education, experiences, mobility, volunteering, languages, skills, and achievements
  • Search and apply for international traineeship and career opportunities
  • Explore opportunities that match their background, interests, and aspirations
  • Better understand and present competences developed through mobility and extracurricular experiences
  • Connect with employers that value international experience and transferable skills

For employers and organisations

  • Create an organisational profile and publish opportunities
  • Reach students and recent graduates from across Europe and beyond
  • Manage applications and identify candidates whose profiles match their needs
  • Increase visibility among a community of internationally experienced young people
  • Contribute to more meaningful and high-quality traineeship and career pathways

Supporting quality opportunities

Beyond simply listing opportunities, the platform is also designed to support a stronger focus on the quality of traineeships and early career experiences.

This includes ongoing work to improve how opportunities are presented, how expectations are communicated, and how different elements of the traineeship journey can be better supported digitally. This quality dimension also includes the development of quality labels and rating-based approaches that help highlight relevant standards in offers and contribute to a better understanding of quality across the full traineeship cycle - from publication and application to supervision, learning value, and overall experience

In this sense, the platform does not only aim to increase access to opportunities, but also to encourage better, more transparent, and more learner-centred opportunities.

Why this matters to ESN

As an organisation representing international students, ESN sees employability, mobility, and access to quality opportunities as closely connected.

International experiences help young people develop competences that matter far beyond the classroom: adaptability, communication, intercultural awareness, initiative, resilience, and practical problem-solving, among many others. At the same time, access to traineeships and career opportunities is not always equally visible, simple, or inclusive.

This platform reflects ESN’s commitment to supporting students not only during mobility, but also in the wider journey of personal, academic, and professional development. It is part of a broader effort to make the outcomes of mobility more visible, to strengthen the link between education and employment, and to promote opportunities that are accessible, relevant, and of quality.

About the revamped platform

The current revamp of the platform is being carried out in the framework of the DETAS - Digitalising Erasmus Traineeship Application & Support, a project co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by ESN, with a consortium comprising of the European University Foundation, Lifelong Learning Platform, Expertise in Labour Mobility, University of Limerick, University of Latvia, Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara.

DETAS supports the enhancement of the platform through technical improvements, policy development, research, and outreach activities focused on Erasmus+ traineeships. Through this work, the project contributes to improving the visibility, accessibility, and quality of traineeship opportunities, while supporting a more seamless experience for users.

While the platform builds on ESN’s existing work and longer-term vision, DETAS provides an important framework for strengthening its digital infrastructure and expanding its contribution to the Erasmus+ traineeship ecosystem.
